WOW = Window on the World

Recall that SoSE is a long-range project and WOW is a short-term project to drive SoSE forward.
People are always looking for a phone number, an e-mail address, or the location of someone. This information is often in a variety of different places: cell phones, planners, phone books, distribution lists, even simple text files on a personal computer. It can be especially frustrating to locate contact information at our College. Enter the WOW project :)
Ideally, WOW will allow the user to access two sets of data; one set will be stored on a server and maintained centrally, the other set is the local property of the user and can be changed spontaneously. The power & usefulness of WOW will come from its simple and effective user interface, clearly defined, primary search method, and usable data results.
For this summer, our team will most likely realize only the WOW client-server Java application, but we envision a useful application of WOW via the web, too. Maybe next year!
