Latest News: We Have Our Own Domain Name!
Remember that SoSE is pronounced "saucy", which is fun. :-)
We obtained the new domain name "summerofsoftware.org" and plan to host all of our general communications through this site. Our new web hosting is through DreamHost, and so far, so good! Some of the great features offered by DreamHost are Subversion hosting, Jabber hosting, SSH shell access, the ability to run cron jobs, PHP, MySQL, Java, Python, Ruby, Ruby on Rails support, and more.
Will Our WOW Server Run Here?
Last year our SoSE team developed a Java based client-server application -- named WOW -- that quickly and easily searches for personnel contact information. Next week, if there's time, we'll make an attempt to see if our WOW server will work here on Dreamhost. If so, we can connect to it from anywhere! That would be pretty neat!
